REVELATION:  Collaborative Film Project / Topic Climate Change 2021-2023

Creative Conversations with both Selby Gardens / Spanish Point and The Ringling Museum about A FACULTY / STUDENT COLLABORATIVE PROJECT: An abstract narrative short film exploring the dangers of climate change as four “mythical birds” reveal the disastrous effects the destruction of the natural environment is having on humanity.

This is a project being developed as a collaboration with FILM STUDENTS (director, producer, cinematography, editor, gaffer, drone operator), FACULTY (originator / costume designer), a musical composer, a Shakespeare scholar/actor for voiceover, stilt performers, a performer/choreographer, a sound designer, and the possible locations to include Ringling Museum and/or Spanish Point.

THE FOG: PUPPET PERFORMANCE FOR CHILDREN.   2021

THE SUMMER 2021 – Research / Design / Exploration of Materials / Construction of 6 working puppet prototypes for a theatrical production adapted from the children’s book:  THE FOG

BIRD PUPPETS are to be used by actors in a variety of settings to tell the story of Climate Change to children in ages from pre-school through middle school.  PUPPETS needed to be very visual and easy to manipulate by actors – not professional puppeteers.  The PUPPETS were going to be constructed by Ringling design students, so I also prepared demonstration materials, scheduling and materials budgets.

THE FALL 2021 – The Fog is an interdisciplinary theatre-for-young-audiences production, to be conceived through collaboration with the new Entertainment Design program and FILM Departments at Ringling College of Art and Design, the Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies Dept. at New College of Florida, and local theatre artists. The Fog is a proposal for a new activity with local arts organizations.

The PROJECT received a MELLON FOUNDATION GRANT through New College (supported by the CROSS-COLLEGE ALLIANCE).

THE RHINO PROJECT : HUMAN | NATURE.    2018-2020

After two years of pre-production, a collaborative DANCE / FILM project at the RINGLING MUSEUM was completed with a Composer from the Berklee School of Music (Eric Berry, two Choreographers from New College (Eugenia Titterington and Leymis Bolanos Wilmott), CJ Julian Faculty / Cinematographer, student dancers from New College and Ringling FILM students (Director / Trustee Scholar Michael Boomer, Editor / Colorist Mike Lee, and a crew of incredible FILM students).  I designed and made all of the costumes, as well as creating the original narrative for the project, but the project was created as an equal collaboration between a group Faculty and Students

The RHINO PROJECT was seen as a live performance at the RINGLING MUSEUM, repeated as a live performance at NEW COLLEGE, and the film was first screened at NEW COLLEGE (with an accompanying exhibition of the costumes.)

The PROJECT received a MELLON FOUNDATION GRANT through New College (supported by the CROSS-COLLEGE ALLIANCE).
